Senior Internship

What is It?
The Senior Internship Program gives students an
opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a career of their choice. It
provides the chance for seniors to pursue a one-credit, independent, non-paid
internship experience. This program allows students to link their interests and
preferences to research and career exploration. Any senior with an interest to
learn about potential career/college choices may participate in the course.

What Are Your Responsibilities?
|
|
Students will be enrolled in a fall term class where they learn interviewing, research, resume writing, and presentation skills. By mid-October students will start looking for internship placements. |
|
|
By mid-November, students will report to their internship site and begin keeping daily journals. All students will report to a professional work site and arrange a schedule with his or her mentor. The flexibility of the Internship schedule will be dependent upon the mentor’s work schedule/responsibilities and the student’s school schedule. Eighty (80) hours must be completed by May. |

|
Fill out an Internship Application and meet with the Internship Coordinator. |
|
|
Complete various assignments related to their Internship. |
|
|
Complete an academic research paper. |
|
|
Meet with a mentor in order to arrange convenient days/hours. |
|
|
Attend internship seminars as scheduled and maintain time sheets. |
|
|
Keep weekly logs. |
|
|
Complete an Internship Presentation. |
Keep in Mind
Evening, weekend, and/or vacation commitments may be required to fulfill the 80 Internship hours. Students are responsible for transportation needs.
